Sonny is soft and an excuse maker. He will never change, just like Patterson refused to do.
Hire Jerry Kill away from Vanderbilt and let him create whatever role he wants, up to and including veto power on AD decisions.
What I meant when I stated this thread asking “What Can We Do?” was what can we do to expedite the removal of SD and crew.If you mean what can we do to get this program back to winning ASAP,
I would suggest starting a GoFundMe for TCU FB NIL.
As soon as the fund has grown large enough to fund Professional CFB, such as below, we should be able to get this train rolling again for the ‘25 season.
TCU’s largest NIL deal is Hailey Van Lith for $696k

So in other words, you don’t want to give SD a chance to be successful because you don’t want him to be successful. That’s what I figured. I don’t think you’re alone, there are a lot of Frog fans who got their feelings hurt when SD took guys that GP couldn’t win with and went 12-2. Enough so that they apparently are willing to take SD down by eliminating support. What I meant when I stated this thread asking “What Can We Do?” was what can we do to expedite the removal of SD and crew.
I like your idea of a Go Fund Me account. But, not to get money to pay players. I think the goal with the Go Fund Me should be to raise enough money to pay SD’s buyout so we can jettison him right away. I definitely would contribute to that cause…
Sorry, but it is Cal all over again. History does repeat itself. So in other words, you don’t want to give SD a chance to be successful because you don’t want him to be successful. Which is fine, it’s their prerogative, but let’s call it what it is.
That could be interesting. What I meant when I stated this thread asking “What Can We Do?” was what can we do to expedite the removal of SD and crew.

(sarcasm) Gosh, isn't commodification of everything great? Free market capitalism for everything, right? If you mean what can we do to get this program back to winning ASAP,

Might beat having the mail it in moron currently coaching. That could be interesting.
Fix TCU’s current issues by hiring an up and coming Group coach with no major CFB coaching experience, or any experience in navigating major portal recruiting while managing an NIL cap on any level. ….or maybe we could get a big time assistant from a Power team for his first head coaching job and a huge learning curve.
I’m sure that will work out great. This is the perfect time for hiring a Power level rookie head coach with little or no NIL experience.
Sarcasm aside, is it not the Assistants that primarily do the recruiting? Aren't they the ones crawling through hick towns in rented cars looking for talent? I don't believe it takes too terribly long for a Coach to figure out the recruiting game, or the NIL game. In fact, it's probably harder for the old guys to pick up on it than the new guys. That could be interesting.

From 2018-‘22 there were 14 Group/FCS coaches promoted to the Power level, and 5 succeeded. 35%.Sarcasm aside, is it not the Assistants that primarily do the recruiting? GP had not had a Head Coaching job when he was hired. As an introvert afraid of public speaking, it was a challenge for him. And us. Of course, Pat Sullivan was a great public speaker. Look where that got us.
Matt Campbell, Matt Rhule (Hire guys named 'Matt'?) are both danged good motivators, and good X and O guys. They also have the knack of evaluating players that we evidently do not have. Both came into situations where they didn't have a Book on their tendencies, and they were young and mentally adroit enough to stay reasonably unpredictable.
This is why I would prefer a young, first time or step-up Coach. Mentors are a dime a dozen, and I like the idea of someone with fire who doesn't have an idea of his own limitations. Besides, they are cheaper to hire.
And the percentage of Old Guys who shuffled from one job to the next? Like the sage of El Campo said, "There's two kinds of Coaches, son: Them that's been fired, and them that's gonna be fired."From 2018-‘22 there were 14 Group/FCS coaches promoted to the Power level, and 5 succeeded. 35%.
(and the low level criteria for success is only that they were better than their predecessor)
Those are sorry odds when you’re betting $30m and the next 5 seasons.

What makes successful college football coaching hire? A look at Power Five hires finds key traits
Can you predict college football coaching success? A look at Power Five hires from 2018-21 found four key traits that predict positive results.www.usatoday.com
This. Jettison this.... lump.... and do the best you can. TCU and most division 1 schools won't be able to compete in football in the future, anyway. Uncontrolled Big Money has finally killed college football. Focus on basketball and baseball. You still might be able to compete in those sports. And the percentage of Old Guys who shuffled from one job to the next? They gotta learn sometime. I'm not terribly keen on a re-tread, for the reasons that we are presently suffering. Sonny is the very portrait of complacency. He's getting his $27 million one way or another. Nothing is going to give him a hiccup in his backswing. There's no urgency at all. Look at Jimbo, they cut him a check for $77 million to go away. Sonny has retirement plans in mind...
No, I want a guy who isn't looking to fleece us for a golf retirement lottery. A young and hungry kid in his mid 30s who has seen what there is to see and still has his ambitions and optimism intact.
"Better to burn out, than to fade away..."

Or just fire our AD so the 4 - 5 traditionally big donors that don’t like him will start giving again…If you mean what can we do to get this program back to winning ASAP,

Better than a lifetime .500 coach that has had 20 years to prove that is what he isThat could be interesting.

Guess I missed Cal’s undefeated regular season and NY6 bowl win.Sorry, but it is Cal all over again. History does repeat itself.
