What are we good at?

For about 4 games, our passing game was really great. QB and WRs were on fire. That was the only span we were actually good at something. Other than that, nothing.
The passing game was better than just good last night. Hoover was 25-34 (73.5%) for 333 yards and no interceptions. There's no world where that is not 'good.'

And this was despite the fact he was running for his life a lot of the time.

We are a below average team in the two places where it matters the most, really -- OLine and DLine. We are wasting some incredible offensive skill talent in Hoover, Williams, Bech, Richardson and Dabney because they don't have a legitimate support system. And it was a huge whiff by our staff not to at least have a serviceable running back. It made me sick watching those two backs Baylor has.

I swear that last run of theirs, our defense thought they were going to run out the clock and take a knee or just try a bs pass. That’s why the d line just stood up and belly wrestled with Baylor offensive line. That is solely on the coaching staff for not being ready.

14 yards!
Why would our guys think they were going to kneel it? It was a 47 yards FG from there and even Goo knew they’d run up the middle to try and improve FG distance. I was going we knew this and would stuff them to make it a 50 yard FG and force OT. But nope, 14 yards!

Opposing coaches scout TCU tape and they look for weaknesses & tendencies. The OSU,Cincy and AZ coaches know we are weak and slow on the DL, OL. Our guards and center are not being instructed how to maintain leverage and drive. This is primary reason we see so many 1-2 yard gains and we don't see rushes of the 10–30-yard variety.

We have the tendency to make mistakes with player substitutions. This is one of the reasons we get penalties and why there was a 14 yd gain to set up that FG.

Our DL has the tendency to not shed blocks and our LBs have a propensity for not filling running lanes. What happened with the Cal transfer LB Elarms-Orr? When that Houston QB Z. Chriss ripped off that 71 yd run against us a few weeks ago, the opposition noticed.

Personally I like our linebackers as people but will we ever have a linebacker that meets a running back in the hole near the line of scrimmage? It seems like when they do advance forward they are not in the hole that the running back goes through. The linebacker play has been atrocious and by the way it may be partially because tye defensive lineman are getting blasted backwards effectively blocking access to the running back. No doubt the d line needs to be a heck of a lot better. I do like the Deal brothers. They are fun to watch.

Can someone explain our pass defense to me? I don’t understand how you can have your entire secondary set up what appears to be a soft zone. All Baylor’s receivers had to do was find a big opening then just stand there and wait for the ball.

Soft coverage. Playing off too much. It’s not about speed, as some have tried to claim. If you have attended games, you’ve seen the speed.
Some here are still sticking heads in the sand about the coaching hire. Our problems are coaching. It’s all fundamentals. These players have not been developed in the past couple of years.

Being serious. We give up 37 points to a cr*p Baylor team. How does that last run play happen? Do we not have any heart anymore? We have a NFL wr playing running back, let’s try him out at linebacker next??
I’ve had it with Sonny’s weak a** team mentality. We use to play way above our talent level, now we play below it.
So what are we actually consistently good at ?
Non-consecutive chunks of passing yards.

I think our receivers are about as good a group as any outside of Columbus, Oh. That's about it.

Instead of forcing a 47 yard (or heaven forbid 43 yard) FG, we were desperately trying to cause another fumble. Meanwhile we forgot to get the runner down.
