Wes’ wife, Claire, wanted to make sure we all knew that Wes’ service is scheduled for 11am, Dec. 14 at St John’s Anglican Church, 2401 College Avenue, Fort Worth Please help get the word out. Obituary: Family and friends mourn the passing of Wes (Wesley) Thomas Phelan, 69, dedicated husband, loving father and brother, and a friend to all he met. Wes passed away on December 5 due to complications from cancer. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, he was a devoted son of that city but grew to love his new home in Georgetown where he was welcomed by many new and wonderful friends. He attended Arlington Heights High School and Texas Christian University. Wes dearly loved the two children he shared with his former wife, Deborah. He adored his son Cameron who died too young, and his daughter Julia who he was so proud to stand up for at her wedding to Ryan. He will be sadly missed by his brother Robert and his wife Bridgett, and his sister Cara Beth and her husband Doug. Wes met his wife Claire in London where they discovered their common love of animals, good food, and travel, and built a friendship that lasted through times thick and thin. She, and their two dogs, Teddy and Baby will miss him dearly. His family in Australia thought the world of Wes and loved him genuinely and affectionately. His brother-in-law, Teddy, and his wife Miche and their children, recognized Wes as a truly good and kind man. Originally in the gas and oil business as a geologist, he soon saw the light and moved into the sale of chocolate, making the world a sweeter place for all. Although Wes graduated from TCU, he never left it behind. One of the co-founder of Killerfrogs, Wes continued to attend TCU sporting events and to comment on them in podcasts and to bleed purple. Wes loved his family and friends, and people in general, nature, the Masons and Shriners, anything TCU, B-B-Q, peach ice-cream, telling a good story, a great bourbon, and life in general. He will be missed, and mourned by a wife who cannot imagine a world without her sweetheart. A memorial service will be held at St John’s Anglican Church, 2401 College Avenue, Fort Worth on Saturday, December 14 at 11 a.m. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to honor Wes given to All Texas Dachshund Rescue – www.atdr.org
