FORT WORTH, Texas - ORU outfielder Chris Elder didn't care what the statistics said. TCU coach Jim Schlossnagle didn't know what they said.
Elder hit an unorthodox grand slam Sunday afternoon to power No. 4 seed Oral Roberts past host and top-seed TCU 8-4 in an elimination game at the Fort Worth Regional.
After a pitching change, the left-handed hitting Elder defied the baseball book by smashing a home run off a TCU left-hander Teddy Nowell.
"I think I probably just have a better plan against lefties, have to bear down a little more," Elder said. "Sounds kind of stupid that I should do that. But I've been hitting lefties well." ...
