Sporting News: TCU's Gary Patterson puts positive spin on schedule change

Sporting News

TCU Coach Gary Patterson says he’s not upset about the Mountain West Conference Board of Directors changing his team’s 2011 date with Boise State from a home game to a road game. He does wish that if league officials planned to tinker with his schedule, they had looked at the whole thing. “I wish they had balanced it out a little,” Patterson told Sporting News in a telephone interview. “The other two teams that are going to be picked high, Air Force and San Diego State, we’ve got to go on the road there, also. But if you want to win a championship, you’ve got to be able to go on the road and win.”

The Horned Frogs also will visit Wyoming in MWC play and are scheduled to visit Baylor for a non-conference game. ...

In the back of his mind Gary is probably pretty confident with his program no matter what obstacles are thrown at him. This year he has less pressure to be perfect given the high turnover at QB and elsewhere so a loss here or there won't destroy him. This is really a tune up season for 2012.

Actually, I have a feeling that moving the game in the way the MWC did might actually help us more than hurt us. Gary's teams always play best when someone tries to knock them down.
