QUOTE(bullfrog69 @ Jun 20 2010, 02:07 PM) you gotta do what you gotta do. working for a jerk boss is a good way to make anyone miserable. and you say you don't have any young ones at this point so it wouldn't be completely irresponsible to split ways with your job. i speak just because i have been in the same situation and it was hard, but i did the right thing for myself and it worked out nicely. And he doesn't pay me enough to miss these kinds of opportunites with my pops. He's not getting any younger and one day I'm going to have kids and something like this will be nearly impossible. It's not like I'm missing an entire week. I just want two days. I have 9 days of vacation I'd get paid for as well as a good chunk in 401k if I had to use it but the guy who's seats are next to mine is well-connected in local real estate and between that and my contacts I don't think I'd have trouble finding a job quickly. If all else fails I can go work the dock at my dad's company until I find something else. It's crap work but pays surprisingly well for the type of job and it's better than depleting my savings.
