I still think SEC should add Missouri, North Carolina, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech. Then they should move their conference headquarters to Richmond. Missouri will have to play home games in Marshall, Texas.

Like Kentucky and Maryland, Missouri was a border state that attempted and failed to remain neutral during the Civil War. They were naive to think it was even possible. The border states were slave states that had regional sympathies with the South but were deeply divided over secession. Slight majorities in each state were probably against it -- except possibly in Maryland, where a slight majority likely favored it. All the border states furnished tens of thousands of troops to both sides.
