SA Express News: Texas Apologizes to Georgia, SEC for Fan's Behavior and Awaits Possible Fine

The fans did not like a call by the refs and would not stop throwing objects on the field. Coach Sarkisian walked on the filed to ask the fans to stop. Then the refs did indeed reverse the call in favor of TU. Coach Smart was big mad afterward.
That was absolutely the worst call I've seen this year, except for the incompletion call on the Virginia Tech hail Mary pass against Miami. It is those kinds of calls that make fans think games are fixed or make them.... throw things. Georgia, though, is still a beast. Texas is good but not as good as Georgia and probably a couple of other teams. Texas' offensive line was bested all night and Ewers is now gun shy and won't step up in the pocket. In addition, the running backs are small and maybe average in quality. Oh well.

My concern is that drunk, unruly fans will take that turn of events as some kind of unintentional approval of such behavior by the powers-that-be, and more of the same can be expected in the near future (and not just in Austin, either).

That twisted logic might very well lead to a rash of instances wherein fans throw detritus on the field anytime they disagree with the calls being made by the refs. College football needs to nip that notion in the bud quickly and decisively.

Of course, that’s highly unlikely considering the status UT holds as one of the sport’s most powerful and influential blue bloods, so I won’t be holding my breath in anticipation of any meaningful sanctions or punishment.

I fully realize the officiating crew never intended for that sequence of events to play out as it did, and they were only trying to get the call right (which they eventually did), but the long term consequences could be unfortunate.

$250,000?

Chump change for UT.

Exactly as I feared.

I know. I'm a Texas alumnus. I know a couple of Texas alums who could pay for it and not think twice about it - like I'd pay a $25 fine. Also, they'll never identify the kids who threw the bottles but it's not as bad as Tennessee fans hitting Kiffin with batteries. It was a horrible call at a key moment but I don't condone throwing things onto the field.

The first time I have ever seen fans force the overturning of a call. Granted it was a bad call but it was supposedly not reviewable and when the fans started throwing stuff they just flat changed it. Didn’t review it just met in the center of the field and changed it. It had no bearing on the game’s outcome

I think they said that the ref didn't mean to throw the flag or some such. It was a terrible call and, ultimately, didn't matter. The best team won. However, when you have a bunch of suburban would be football hero insurance salesmen as refs, it can be entertaining. Are you not entertained?

And then we had the sideline bimbette at the Tx Tech game demonstrating how to throw tortillas on to the field! She even took a bite out of the center before throwing them. I'm thinking why the heck are you encouraging this?
She throws like a girl, btw.

Dark was going absolutely nuts when they made that call.... I literally thought, "what did Sonny say to get thrown out if this guy gets to do that?" Lol
My guess is that Sark was saying that’s a [ deposit from a bull that looks like Art Briles ] call or something along that line. Sonny was saying hey [ Arschloch] you’re a scheissing idiot or something like that. Usually when you attack the individual you get tossed and when you attack the call you get a warning.
