Well, troll, flounce around all you like shouting "Scoreboard!!" At the end of the day, month, year, decade, your little hilltop enclave is still the well-heeled but barren, ego rich but results poor, preening palace it has always been: Looked down on by everyone, save yourselves. Yes, you managed to win last season. Good on you. Through a combination of trick-plays, dumb luck, and utterly horrid game-prep and performance by your opponents the scoreboard was indeed in your favor when the gun sounded. That was last year. As alluded to above, it is certain that a reckoning is coming. GMFP is generally a stickler for playing inferior teams with care. He doesn't like laying more than is necessary on early season matchups because he feels that such a thing is just bad manners. In many ways, last year's game was a harsh slap in the face to the way he'd been doing things, and the way he allowed his subordinates plenty of slack to run things their way. That all came to a stop. Things tightened up. Chains were yanked. The whole off season was dedicated to improvement. New people with a history of getting things into shape and properly directed. Players motivated in ways like they had not been before. A deep sense of betterment and confidence blossomed and grew. The Plague has put a question mark on things. Will we play? Will we sit? Now that there is some sense of certainty, practice is now going full steam. We had no idea who we would be playing: Cal? UNLV? Tenn. Tech? Now we know: You. We finally get to hit somebody. And that somebody is you. En guard.
