After winning the first two games, the TCU baseball faithful at Lupton Stadium on a warm but windy Sunday wanted a sweep of the Kansas Jayhawks to open the 2011 season, but didn't get it as the Frogs dropped a 4-3 contest that took 14 innings and four hours to decide. It was TCU's longest game since 2000.
Opening the year ranked first by College Baseball Newspaper and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, the Frogs on Sunday simply couldn't get produce timely hits with men in scoring position. Overall, TCU stranded 18 runners. Third baseman Jantzen Witte homered in the second and first baseman Joe Weik went deep in the 14th, both solo shots. ...
