Sumlin struggled early, but has done a decent job at Houston. Think it is an uphill battle, but good luck to him..

Actually, he's about equivalent to his predecessor. He and Briles both coached there three years, and Sumlin's 23 victories are one fewer than AB's. He went 8-5, 10-4 and 5-7...although in his 10-4 season the Sumlin's Coogs did not loose the CUSA championship game as Briles did in his 10-4 year.

After Keenam graduates, UH is finished. Without Broadway, there is no hope and no future for Sumlin and UH.

Former Southlake QB David Piland will probably start for them next year. He did an okay job starting last year as a true freshman. With the opportunity to redshirt this season, UH should be able to get three more seasons out of him. He may not be Keenum but I bet he develops into a solid QB before all is said and done.

Anyone remember when Keenum threw 6 INTs against Air Force in the bowl game held in Fort Worth a few years back? Yikes.

Yep. We were at that game, and it was miserably cold. We left at halftime and walked to Buffalo Bros to thaw out...and drink.

Not to mention, Briles never had the Quaterback catastrope Sumlin encountered during the 5 and 7 season. I think they were down to #4 by the end.

They'll be fine. People said the same thing after Kolb left. If they ever developed a defense they'd be really good.

And Sumlin turned down the Cincy job FWIW.
