FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's basketball team was locked into a battle for three quarters, but eventually its 3-point shooting made up for some sloppy play in a 73-47 win over Butler on Wednesday afternoon at Schollmaier Arena.

TCU (5-1) hit 11-of-23 from long range in front of a crowd of 3,769 that was mostly Fort Worth ISD students. Those 3-pointers, along with a great second half defensive effort, allowed the Frogs to overcome 20 turnovers. TCU outscored Butler (2-4) 28-8 in the fourth quarter of a game that was very close for three quarters.

Amber Ramirez led the Frogs with 19 points, including 5-of-8 from deep. The freshman hit double figures for the first time this season, and hit a 3-pointer for the sixth time in as many games.
Junior AJ Alix added 13 points and four 3-pointers while senior Jada Butts stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, six rebounds and six assists.

The Rundown
TCU started ice cold and before the game's first media timeout was down 12-0. However, after a timeout by TCU head coach Raegan Pebley just five minutes into the game, the Frogs closed the first quarter on a 16-1 run to take a lead.

Turnovers were a large part of the 12-0 deficit, and they continued throughout the second quarter as TCU finished the first half with 14 miscues. Butler wasn't immune to the turnovers, however, as the Bulldogs committed 12 themselves in the first half, leading to a 29-26 TCU lead at the break.

Tori Schickel scored 11 of Butler's 13 points in the third quarter, and also grabbed nine boards in just that frame. The Bulldogs needed all of those points and rebounds and kept the game close, 41-35, entering the fourth quarter.

However, in the fourth, the Frogs outscored the Bulldogs, 28-8, and put the game on ice. TCU hit 8-of-14 shots in the final frame while Butler made just 4-of-17, including 0-of-6 from deep.

Butler was within five, 48-43, with 8:37 remaining, but from there TCU went on a 13-0 run over the next three minutes and Butler made just two more shots over the remainder of the game.

Stat of the Game
29.3 -- TCU held Butler to 29.3 percent (17-of-58) shooting on the day. In its five home games this season, TCU is holding its opponents to 28.2 percent shootings, with just one team (SMU) shooting over 30 percent.

Quote of the Game
Raegan Pebley on - "I'm really proud of the way we adjusted and our second-half productivity. We penetrated their defense a lot more, we took care of the ball better in that second half and our rebounding effort paid off throughout the game."
