TCU Returns to Hardwood Sunday at Texas Tech
Tip-off is set for 12:00 p.m. CT from Lubbock.
FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU hits the road Sunday to face Texas Tech in Lubbock, beginning at 12:05 p.m. The Horned Frogs will look to record their first conference win this season and eighth overall after falling to K-State in their last outing, 57-54.
Sunday's tilt will be shown live nationally on Fox Sports Net with Bob Licht (Play-By-Play) and Brenda VanLengen (Color) calling the action.
The Frogs and Lady Raiders will be playing for the first time since 2008 Sunday. The last time TCU and Texas Tech met was in the third round of the WNIT. The Frogs won the contest, 81-74. Overall, Sunday's game will mark the 39th meeting between the two Texas foes.
The Opponent
Texas Tech comes into Sunday's game with a 15-4 overall record, including a 5-2 mark in league play. The Lady Raiders, who are receiving votes in the AP Poll and have won three-straight, are coming off a 77-73 overtime victory at West Virginia. Against the Mountaineers, Texas Tech shot 42.4 percent from the field and outscored West Virginia after halftime, 48-35. Individually, Christine Hyde led three Lady Raiders in double-figures with 19 points.
On the year, Casey Morris has led the way this season, averaging 12.2 points per game and 3.7 boards a contest. During conference play, Chynna Brown has carried the load, averaging 15.1 points a contest and 6.3 rebounds a game. Morris is also averaging double-figures in league play, scoring 12.0 points per game.

Medley Honored By Big 12 Again
For the third time this season, freshman Zahna Medley was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week. Medley, who shared weekly accolades with Oklahoma State's Brittney Martin, averaged 15.5 points and 2.5 rebounds for the week. She scored 10 points at West Virginia and followed that up with a 21-point outing against K-State.

Zahna Medley has hit the 20-point mark four times this season, which is the most of any freshman in the Big 12. She closed out the first half of the K-State game by scoring 11 of the Frog's final 21 points, then recorded 10 of the team's final 16 in the contest. Medley is the only rookie in the Big 12 to rank in the top 10 in scoring and assists.
Newcomers Making Headway
During a stretch of play against Kansas State, freshmen Zahna Medley and Kamy Cole combined to score the last 21 points of the first half for the Purple and White. During conference action, the duo has scored 41 percent of the Frogs scoring. In the last three game alone, Medley and Cole have accounted for 48 percent of the Frogs scoring. In all, the five newcomers have combined to score 72 percent of the Frogs 156 points in the last three outings against Iowa State, West Virginia and Kansas State.
A Rebounding Machine
Junior Latricia Lovings posted 13 boards against K-State. The conference leader has quietly become one of the nation's top rebounders as she currently ranks No. 1 in the conference overall and in league play in defensive rebounding. She has now grabbed 13 rebounds in back-to-back games, while recording double-digit boards in three conference contests. Lovings, who is also No. 1 in the Big 12 in blocked shots overall and No. 4 in the NCAA, is averaging 10.7 boards a game in league play.
Closing Out Games
In every game of TCU's six-game conference slate except for No. 1 Baylor, the Frogs have had several chances to record a conference win. Below is a look at the Horned Frogs late game action in conference play.
K-State: TCU led by four with 58 seconds left in the contest. The Horned Frogs led at the break, 31-26.
Oklahoma: TCU led by one with 1:50 left in the game. The Horned Frogs led at the half, 44-39.
Iowa State: TCU trailed by five at halftime, 29-24.
West Virginia: TCU trailed by two with 2:24 left in the game. The game was tied at 27-27 at halftime.
K-State: TCU trailed by one with 1:41 left in the contest. TCU led by one with 3:27 on the scoreboard.
From Way Downtown
The Horned Frogs have continued to shoot the three-ball with consistency all year. In all, the Frogs have hit 10 or more three's in a single-game five times this season, including two games in which TCU connected on 12 triples. The Frogs record in those contests is 3-2. The only losses during that stretch came against Kansas State and Oklahoma.
Keep Her On The Court
Sophomore Natalie Ventress, who has not missed a single free throw during conference action going 12-of-12 from the line, has played in a total of 47 games during her short career, starting 45 contests. The Fort Worth native has started 36-straight contests prior to Sunday's outing at Texas Tech. The last time Ventress didn't start a game was Dec. 20, 2011 against Tulsa. The next closest Horned Frog to start that many consecutive games is junior Latricia Lovings who has started 24-straight.
The Block Party Continues
Junior Latricia Lovings has become one of the NCAA's elite shot blockers in her short time at TCU. The Fort Worth native now has 148 for her career. The junior, who closed last season ranked No. 25 overall in the NCAA in blocked shots per contest, needs only 10 more blocks to overtake No. 2 all-time for a career in TCU history. Tiffany Evans recorded 157 from 2000-2004.

The Future
All five members of TCU's incoming signing class were selected as nominees for the 2013 McDonald's All-American Game. Point guard A.J. Alix, guard/forward Jada Butts, center Klara Bradshaw, forward Janay Keys and center Carol Willie round out TCU's McDonald's All-America nominees. Overall, two of the four nominees are four-star rated recruits and ranked in the prestigious ESPNU 100.
Bradshaw, a 6-foot-6 center out of Emory, recently posted a triple-double in district action. Bradshaw scored 22 points, while shooting 9-of-10 from the field. She also pulled down 14 rebounds, blocked 22 shots and had five steals. Her 22 blocks fell just three shy of tying Brittany Griner's state record of 25, which is the most ever in a high school game by a female in the United States.
Last Time Out
Zahna Medley's game-tying three-point attempt with six seconds left fell off the front of the rim and Kansas State was able to escape with a narrow 57-54 victory over TCU at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
The Horned Frogs, who led by one with 3:27 left to go in the contest, watched as K-State took a three-point lead with a little over two minutes to play, but the Frogs continued to battle, pulling within one at the 1:41 mark. That was as close as TCU would come as the Wildcats' Brittany Chambers connected on two-of-three from the charity stripe in the closing seconds to seal the victory.
Chambers' miss from the line with 12 seconds left gave the Frogs one final chance, but Medley was unable to dial up her fifth three of the game. The Illinois native scored 10 of the Purple and White's final 16 points.
On the night, Medley led the way for the Frogs, scoring 21 points on 6-of-15 shooting. By scoring 21 points, the freshman has now hit the 20-point mark four times this season.
