GoFrogs: TCU Evens Series With 8-1 Win Friday Night
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kole Klecker held Kansas State in check with six no-hit innings and TCU evened the series with an 8-1 win on Friday night at Tointon Family Stadium. Cole Fontenelle homered and Karson Bowen drove in two to lead the offensive charge.

The Rundown
Kole Klecker (9-4) was outstanding through six innings. He didn't allow a hit in his time on the mound and finished his outing with four walks and six strikeouts. He never faced more than four batters in an inning and only dealt with a runner in scoring position three times.

TCU opened the scoring with two runs in the first. With the bases loaded and one out, Tre Richardson beat out a double play to give the Frogs a 1-0 lead. The duo of Brayden Taylor and Richardson executed a double steal to perfection and Taylor slid safely across home for a 2-0 lead.

The Frogs squandered a couple chances to add to its lead but final found some insurance with a two out run in the fifth. Richardson worked a two out walk and ultimately scored on a wild pitch for a 3-0 lead.

TCU broke the game open with five runs on five hits in the seventh. Cole Fontenelle led off the inning with a home run. With the bases loaded, Austin Davis lined an infield single off the third baseman's glove for a 5-0 lead. Elijah Nunez grounded out to drive in another run. Karson Bowen's two-run double capped the scoring.

Kansas State's lone run came in the seventh as it broke up the no-hitter with a one-out double that eventually scored. Cohen Feser worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth to complete his two innings on the mound. Ben Abeldt retired the side in order in the ninth to lock up the victory.

Kole Klecker didn't allow a hit in his six innings on the mound. It's his second straight start that he has carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning.

With the win, TCU improves to 33-22 overall and 12-11 in Big 12 play. The Horned Frogs and Wildcats will meet in the rubber match Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Sam Stoutenborough will get the start for the Horned Frogs. The contest will be televised on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
