GoFrogs: TCU Closes Homestand With Win
FORT WORTH – No. 18 TCU returned to the win column with a 7-3 win over UT Arlington Tuesday night at Lupton Stadium. Brody Green led the offense with three hits and drove in two. Kurtis Byrne and Ryder Robinson homered for the Horned Frogs.

The Rundown
Kurtis Byrne put the Horned Frogs in front 1-0 with a two-out home run in the first. A two-run shot into the bullpen off the bat of Ryder Robinson extended the lead to 3-0 after two. The Frogs tacked on a fourth run on a Peyton Chatagnier sacrifice fly in the fourth.

UTA had chances to get back in the game, but TCU turned a double play with the bases loaded in the second to preserve a 1-0 lead. Zack Morris picked up a big strikeout with runners on the corners in the third. Back-to-back strikeouts from Storm Hierholzer left runners on the corners in the fourth.

The Mavericks finally cracked the scoreboard in the sixth. The first three batters reached and all came around to score to make it a 4-3 ballgame.

TCU answered with a three spot of its own in the bottom of the frame. With the bases loaded, Chase Brunson worked a two-out walk to drive in a run. Brody Green followed with a two-run single to make it a 7-3 ballgame.

The trio of Chase Hoover, Zachary Caywer and Ben Abeldt pitched the final three innings to preserve the win. Hoover finished his 1 2/3 innings with four strikeouts. Cawyer fanned the only batter he faced and Abeldt struck out two after a one out walk to end the game.

Mason Bixby (1-0) made his first career start. He walked three and struck out one in two scoreless innings.

With the win, TCU improves to 16-5 overall. TCU will hit the road for a Big 12 Conference series at Oklahoma State. The series is slated to begin at 6 p.m. on Friday night. All three games will be televised on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
