GoFrogs: TCU Bounces Back With 6-2 Win

Final Stats

FORT WORTH -- A pair of three run innings helped TCU secure a 6-2 victory over No. 19 Oklahoma on Sunday in Game 2 of a doubleheader. Adam Oviedo was the offensive star with three hits and two RBIs.

The Rundown
The TCU pitching staff did yeoman's work to hold Oklahoma in check for much of the game. Charles King started and went four innings, allowing a run on three hits. He walked two and struck out three.

Cal Coughlin (2-1) picked up the win in relief, entering the game in the sixth with the tying run on base. He got Kylar Murray to ground into a double play to end the threat. Coughlin pitched a scoreless seventh before handing the ball to Durbin Feltman in the eighth. The junior retired all six batters he faced.

Oklahoma opened the scoring in the top of the fourth. With one on and two out, a pair of walks loaded the bases. Brady Ware was plunked on the hand to drive in the games' first run.

TCU responded in a big way in the bottom of the third, scoring a trio of runs on four hits. Josh Watson's two-out hit started the Frog rally. He moved to third on a Michael Landestoy single and scored on an A.J. Balta double. Adam Oviedo gave the Frogs the lead with a two-run single to right.

The Sooners pulled to within one in the fifth on a solo home run from Cade Harris, but that was as close as they would get.

TCU put the game out of reach with three more runs in the seventh. Five straight walks with one out gave the Frogs a 4-2 lead. A wild pitch followed by a throwing error allowed two more runs to cross the plate, accounting for the final score.
