FORT WORTH, Texas - With the conference season winding down, the TCU women's basketball team will play a pivotal conference game Saturday against Wyoming. Tip-off is set for Noon inside Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
The Horned Frogs bring a 16-8 overall record and 8-2 mark in league play into Saturday's contest. The Frogs have won 32 of their last 34 home games and will look to make it three-straight victories after defeating UNLV, 71-64, Wednesday.
Overall, the Purple and White and Cowgirls currently sit tied at No. 2 in the Mountain West Conference standings with identical 8-2 marks in conference action.
In the first meeting this season between the two conference foes, TCU shot over 50 percent from the field and cruised to a 68-47 victory over Wyoming at the Cowgirls' Arena Auditorium.
The Frogs will next be in action at Colorado State on Feb. 16. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. CT from Colorado Springs, Colo.
The Last Time Out
TCU had three players score in double-figures Wednesday night en route to a 71-64 victory over UNLV at the Rebels' Cox Pavilion.
Sophomore Starr Crawford led the Horned Frogs with 18 points and 18 boards, which included 11 rebounds on the defensive end of the floor. By grabbing 18 boards, the sophomore not only tied her previous career-high, but also posted her sixth double-double of the season. Her 18 board outing currently ranks No. 6 all-time in program history for a single-game.
Not to be outdone, senior Emily Carter recorded a game-high 23 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including 4-of-9 from deep. Fellow senior Helena Sverrisdottir was just as dangerous, going 6-of-6 from the floor, including 5-of-5 from behind the arc, for 17 points.
Game No. 1 Versus Wyoming
TCU dominated Wyoming in the first match-up this season, claiming a 68-47 victory over Wyoming at Arena Auditorium. With the win, Jeff Mittie recorded his 400th win of his career, while also posting the Frogs' largest margin of victory in the series all-time.
Overall, the Horned Frogs, who shot 69 percent from inside the arc, did most of its damage off the bench as the Frogs held a 24-4 advantage. In total, TCU shot 51.8 percent on 29-of-56 shooting from the floor, including 58.6 percent in the second half on 17-of-29 shooting.
Delisa Gross led the way for the Horned Frogs with 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-3 from deep.

The Wyoming Series
The Horned Frogs and Cowgirls will be meeting for the 16th time in program history today. Overall, TCU owns a 9-6 advantage in the series and have won four out of the last five meetings, including the final meeting between the two schools in 2010 in Fort Worth.
In a 78-59 victory last season at the DMC, Helena Sverrisdottir had a sensational outing, shooting 7-of-10 from the field, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range, while scoring 19 points. Overall, the Frogs were sharp on both offense and defense in 2010, shooting exactly 50.0 percent from the field, while holding the Cowgirls to only 31.1 percent shooting.
Scouting Wyoming
Wyoming comes into Saturday's contest with an 18-5 overall record and 8-2 mark in league action. The Cowgirls, who have won two-straight and seven out of their last eight, defeated New Mexico Thursday, 78-65.
Against the Lobos, three Cowgirls finished the night in double-figures, including senior Aubrey Vandiver, who recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 28 points and ten rebounds. Jade Kennedy was also solid, posting a career-high 23 points, while shooting 8-13 from the field and 7-11 from the three-point line.
Vandiver has led Wyoming this season, averaging 18.2 points per game and 9.2 rebounds, while Hillary Carlson has recorded 17.6 points per game and 7.3 boards per contest. Overall, the Cowgirls are shooting over 40 percent from the field.
Streaky Shooting Usually Delivers Victory
During its last two outings, the Frogs have had atleast one individual go perfect from the field. During those two contests, Helena Sverrisdottir (6-of-6) and Delisa Gross (7-of-7) were simply unstoppable.
In the first outing against Wyoming earlier this year, Gross and Starr Crawford went a perfect 4-of-4 from the field. Overall, TCU has had at least one individual shoot 100 percent in 12 games this season. During that time, the Frogs are 9-3 overall.
Scoring In The Paint Important For TCU Success
In its last outing against UNLV, the Frogs outscored the Rebels in the paint, 22-6, which marked the second-straight game in which TCU has dominated down low. During conference play, TCU has outscored its opponent down low in seven of the 10 contests.
The three games in which the Frogs were either tied with or outscored by their opponent in the paint were BYU (14-30), New Mexico (18-24) and Air Force (24-24). TCU's record during those contests, 1-2.
Gross Helps Frogs Find Victory
Sophomore Delisa Gross had a career game against SDSU last Saturday, notching a new career high of 20 points on 7-of-7 shooting from the floor. By making all seven of her attempts, Gross tied Ashley Davis, who went 7-of-7 in 2007, for the best single-game field goal percentage in school history.
Gross has now scored in double figures eight times this season. During those contests, TCU is 6-2 overall with its only losses coming at the hands of Fresno State and Texas A&M. During her two years on campus, the Horned Frogs are an impressive 11-2 when Gross scores in double figures.
Dominating Defense
For the season, TCU has held six different opponents under 50 points. Upon further review, five out of the first eight MWC schools scored less then 50 points against TCU.
Horned Frogs Sizzle With Starr
Since returning the Horned Frog lineup against Georgia, Starr Crawford has made her presence felt. The sophomore and preseason All-America candidate by Sporting News has posted double-digit scoring games in nine out of the 13 contests, which has led TCU an 10-3 record. The Frogs have also out-rebounded their opponent during that stretch in three games with Crawford leading the way in boards during 10 of those contests.
• Crawford has led TCU in scoring five times since returning.

Suffocating Defense
During the last 10 games, the Frogs have turned up their defensive pressure, which has helped them open the conference season with a 8-2 record. During MWC play, opponents have shot 40 percent or lower in nine out of the 10 games, including the last eight. SDSU and UNLV were the lone MWC foes to shoot over 40 percent with 40.4 and 41 percent, respectively.
Even more impressive is the fact that during the Horned Frogs last seven outings, TCU has shut down the opposition from deep. The Frogs forced the seven teams to go a combined 40-of-159 (.251) from behind the arc.
Hitting The Glass With Authority
TCU is 7-1 on the year when out-rebounding its opposition. Overall, the Horned Frogs are 163-33 (.832) during the Jeff Mittie era when out-rebounding its opposition, including 18-4 the last two seasons alone.
Headlines To Look At
When TCU takes on UNLV, it will look to continue some impressive numbers. During the Jeff Mittie era, the Frogs are now 213-29 when leading at the half. TCU, who is 13-2 this season when leading at the half, is also 123-3 when leading by 10+ at the half.
Overall, when the Frogs score 80+ points in regulation, TCU is 75-1 under Mittie. The Frogs are also 161-9 when the opponent scores 60 or less, which has now happened 15 times this season.
Mountain West Conference Success
During the last six seasons, the Frogs own a 67-23 all-time league record in the MWC and are the only team to record at least 11 wins in each of the past five seasons.
