GoFrogs: Springer Ties for Lead, TCU in Second at Big 12
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. – With three individuals in the top 10, TCU is in second place after two rounds at the 2019 Big 12 Men's Golf Championship at The Greenbrier in West Virginia.

After Friday's round was cancelled due to heavy rain, Saturday brought cooler temperatures but clear skies for 36 holes at the Old White TPC course. Senior Hayden Springer led the Horned Frogs from the start as he finished the first round bogey free and a score of 6-under 64, tying a career low score versus par.

Of his six first-round birdies, four came on consecutive holes on the front nine for a score of 4-under 30. Five more birdies in the second round brought Springer's birdie total to 11 on the day, the second-fewest of the tournament. The Trophy Club native shot 2-under 68 in the second round. He has shot at or under par 17 times in 23 rounds this season.

At 8-under 132, Springer is tied with Oklahoma State's Viktor Hovland for first place. Springer and Hovland, No. 3 ranked collegian and the low amateur in the 2019 Masters, will be paired up in Sunday's final round and will tee off at 9:06 a.m. CT on hole No. 1.

David Ravetto is three shots out of the lead at 5-under 135. The senior had just three bogeys on the day. He shot 2-under 68 in the first round and 3-under 67 in the second round. Ravetto has two top 10 finishes in his last three tournaments and has shot at or under par in nine of his last 11 rounds.

Stefano Mazzoli is tied for eighth place at 5-under 135 after rounds of 1-under 69 and even-par 70. The senior had one of five eagles in the tournament with a short put on the par 3 No. 17 hole in the second round.

TCU led No. 1 Oklahoma State by five strokes after the first round, but the Cowboys shot 12-under 268 in the second round to take the lead by 12 strokes over the Horned Frogs. TCU leads No. 7 Oklahoma (-2) and No. 6 Texas (-2) by four strokes.

The Frogs and the Cowboys will be the last the tee off on Sunday with the first TCU/OSU pairing starting at 8:30 a.m. CT. Live scoring can be found at GolfStat.com.

BRIEF TCU-BIG 12 REFRESHER
TCU has finished eighth at the last three Big 12 Championships. The best the Horned Frogs have fared in their six years with the conference is a third place finish in 2015. TCU's last individual conference champion was Julien Brun in 2012 (Big 12).

GRANDPA MONTIGEL
Midway through the second round at about 4 p.m., head coach Bill Montigel received a phone call telling him his daughter, Kelli had given birth. It's the first grandchild (a boy) for Montigel, now in his 40th season at TCU, his 32nd as TCU's head men's golf coach.
