GoFrogs: Soccer Falters In Loss At No. 8 West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – No. 8 West Virginia tallied a goal in each half on the way to a 2-0 win over TCU Sunday afternoon in Morgantown. The Horned Frogs were limited to just three shots in the game.
The Rundown
West Virginia carried the play early in the match and eventually capitalized on a corner kick in the 31st minute. Emily Alvarado made a diving stop on a ball ticketed for the far post setting up the corner kick. Bianca St. Georges’ feed was on target for Ali Magaletta, who headed in the opening goal.
TCU found some traction late in the first half as it tried to even things up. Yazmeen Ryan had some quality runs and was eventually able to break free for a shot from distance that went just wide of the goal.
In the second half, TCU came out with a spark, earning an early corner kick. The feed eventually worked its way to the foot of McKenzie Oliver, but her shot from the top of the 18 sailed high.
West Virginia found an insurance goal in the 71st minute as a Mountaineer was fouled inside the six-yard box. Michaela Abam took the penalty kick for WVU. Her shot ricocheted off the post and in for a 2-0 lead.
