MONCTON, Canada - Freshman Charles Silmon advanced to the semifinals of the men's 100 meters on Tuesday at the 13th running of the IAAF World Junior Championships. Silmon, a Waco native, clocked a preliminary round time of 10.33 seconds to place first in heat No. 5 with the second fastest preliminary round time at University of Moncton Stadium.
"My strategy is just to get out," said Silmon. "I have a strong finish, so if I get out with the group, it's all about the end. I'm feeling great."
Silmon, who is competing for the United States, will continue action in Canada on Wednesday night.
