FORT WORTH, Texas - The American Baseball Coaches Association has named Jim Schlossnagle the Midwest Region Coach of the Year. Schlossnagle guided the Horned Frogs to their best-ever season in school history, including a berth in the 2010 NCAA College World Series and a No. 3 ranking at the conclusion of the season.

Under his guidance, the Frogs tallied 54 victories, the second-most wins in Division I in 2010. TCU took home both the Mountain West Conference regular season and tournament titles en route to earning the right to host an NCAA Regional for the second straight season.

The Frogs swept through the NCAA Fort Worth Regional with victories over Lamar, Arizona and Baylor. TCU won a hard-fought three-game series against the No. 2 national seed Texas Longhorns in Austin to earn its first-ever trip to the College World Series.

In Omaha, the Frogs battled to a 3-2 record, falling just a win short of making the NCAA championship series. The Frogs defeated Florida State twice and UCLA once.

The 2010 campaign saw Bryan Holaday take home the Johnny Bench Award, given to the nation's best catcher. Matt Purke was the consensus National Freshman of the Year. Purke, Holaday and Steven Maxwell all earned All-American accolades and 11 Frogs earned all-conference honors. Prior to the start of the College World Series, Schlossnagle was tabbed the NCBWA National Coach of the Year.
