GoFrogs: TCU Awarded No. 4 Overall Seed in NCAA Tournament

FORT WORTH – The NCAA Tournament is headed to the purple courts for the ninth consecutive season.

TCU received the No. 4 seed in the 2024 NCAA D1 Men's Tennis Championship.

The Horned Frogs have garnered a national seed in four straight seasons. The selection signifies TCU's 34th NCAA Tournament berth.

TCU will now host NCAA Regional matches on Friday, May 3, and Saturday, May 4 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

Joining the Horned Frogs (22-4) in the Fort Worth Regional are No. 2 seed Arkansas (21-11), No. 3 seed Cornell (18-6) and No. 4 seed UC Irvine (17-6). The Razorbacks and Big Red received at-large berths. The Anteaters won the Big West championship and secured the league's auto bid.

The Regional commences with a 2 p.m. dual on Friday between Arkansas and Cornell. The Horned Frogs then face UC Irvine at 5 p.m. or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first match. The winners square off at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the Regional final.

The Horned Frogs earned hosting rights through Super Regional weekend as one of eight national seeds. The Fort Worth Super Regional is scheduled for Saturday, May 11 should TCU advance. The Horned Frogs would meet the winner of the Duke Regional, which features the 13th-seeded Blue Devils, Alabama, Charlotte and UNC Ashville.

Friday's meeting between TCU and UC Irvine will be the fifth all-time and first since 1997. The Horned Frogs and Anteaters have never squared off in Fort Worth.

TCU battled Arkansas in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament in the programs' most recent meeting, shutting out its old Southwest Conference rival 4-0.

The Horned Frogs and Cornell have never met on the hardcourts.

TCU has made four consecutive NCAA quarterfinal appearances and reached the Elite Eight in six of the last eight seasons. No program nationwide has notched more quarterfinal berths than TCU since 2015. The Horned Frogs have reached the semifinals five times (1989, 1996, 2001, 2015, 2023).

The Horned Frogs' streak of nine consecutive postseason appearances is the second-longest in program history, trailing only the program's run of 16 straight NCAA Tournament selections from 1991-2006.

All three Regional matches will be streamed via PlaySight as a part of a Cracked Racquets Cross Court Cast.

The NCAA will announce its singles and doubles qualifiers for the NCAA Individual Championships on Tuesday on NCAA.com.
