TCU senior returned the second-half kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown versus ULM
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- TCU's Greg McCoy has been named the Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time in three games this season. McCoy also received National Kickoff Returner of the Week accolades from the College Football Performance Awards.
A graduate student from Dallas, McCoy returned the second-half kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown in No. 20 TCU's 38-17 victory over Louisiana-Monroe. It was TCU's first kickoff return for a score since McCoy went 81 yards for a touchdown at Wyoming in 2009.
McCoy's return set the tone for TCU to score 14 points in the opening 4:18 of the second half to take control of the game. McCoy had TCU's first return of a second-half kickoff for a touchdown since Cory Rodgers at SMU in 2005.
McCoy tops the Mountain West while ranking fourth nationally with an average of 36.9 yards per kickoff return. He's on pace to break his own TCU single-season record of 35.9 yards set in 2009.
