TCU Surges to Lead in Washington
Castagnara fires 68 to jump to second overall

BREMERTON, Wash. - Led by Giulio Castagnara's 4-under 68, the TCU men's golf team jumped into the lead in Friday's second round at the NCAA Washington Regional at Gold Mountain Golf Club.
The Horned Frogs fired the second-lowest round of the day at 5-under to move past UAB for the overall lead at 12-under. TCU is one stroke ahead of the Blazers and nine strokes ahead of the fifth place team as the top-five finishers in Saturday's final round will advance to the NCAA Championship.
Castagnara tied for the second-lowest round of his career with a 68 to move into second overall, just two strokes off the individual leader. The Pordenone, Italy, native hit his lone bogey of the round on the par-4 13th before catching fire with four birdies on the final five holes. Castagnara's birdie on the 18th broke a deadlock with UAB to push TCU into the overall lead.
Chelso Barrett registered his second-straight 1-under round of 71 on Friday to move to 2-under for the tournament in 15th overall. The Keene, N.H., product eagled the par-5 11th to give TCU its first lead of the afternoon and followed a late bogey with a birdie en route to his 15th round of par or better this season.
Julien Brun also caught fire late, rolling in birdies on the final two holes for a 1-under 71. Brun has now reached par or better in NCAA play for the 13th time in 17 career rounds.
Paul Barjon followed up his opening-round 68 with a 1-over 73 to enter the final round in 12th overall, while Andrew Presley also carded a 73.
