FORT WORTH – A tightly-played game was busted open in the final seven minutes when TCU scored 20 of the last 25 points to defeat Florida Gulf Coast, 67-51, Friday at Schollmaier Arena.
The Horned Frogs (2-0) led 47-46 with seven minutes to play following a free throw by the Eagles (0-2). A 3-pointer by Brendan Wenzel on the next possession sparked a 16-3 run that continued to a 20-5 run to finish the game. Scoring all nine of his points in that final seven minutes was freshman Micah Robinson.
For the second-straight game, TCU's leading scorer was Vasean Allette with 14 points, including eight during the Frogs' late run.
TCU trailed by as many as five with 4:12 remaining in the first half as the Frogs shot just 40.7 percent from the field. TCU managed to lead 30-29 at halftime before shooting 50 percent in the second half.
Ernest Udeh Jr. played a big role on the defensive end and had seven points, seven rebounds to go with career-highs in assists with four and blocks with three. The Frogs' balanced scoring effort included Trazarien White with nine and Brendan Wenzel who had eight points and a game-high nine rebounds.
The Frogs dominated boards with 38 rebounds to the Eagles' 24. TCU also made the most of its time at the free throw line going 11-of-14.
The Horned Frogs wrap-up a three-game homestand to begin the season with a game against Texas State on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- Vasean Allette led TCU in scoring for the second-straight game with 14 points.
- Ernest Udeh Jr. set a career-high with four assists and matched a career-high with three blocks to go with seven points and seven rebounds in 21 minutes of play.
- Noah Reynolds led the Frogs in assists for the second-straight game with five.
- Brendan Wenzel brought down a game-high nine rebounds to go with eight points. Wenzel was 2-of-6 from 3-point range.
