FORT WORTH -- TCU's football season opener at Stanford on Friday, Aug. 30, will have a 9:30 p.m. CT, 7:30 p.m. PT, kickoff and be televised on ESPN.

The Horned Frogs will face an ACC opponent for the first time since 2009, when they opened the season with a 30-14 victory at Virginia before winning 14-10 two weeks later at Clemson. TCU will play 11 Power Four Conference opponents this fall.

TCU is 3-0 all-time against Stanford and will host the Cardinal in a return game at Amon G. Carter Stadium in 2027. The two teams are meeting for the first time since the 2017 Alamo Bowl, when the Horned Frogs rallied from a 21-3 deficit to win 39-37. TCU's last contest at Stanford was in 2007, as Andy Dalton passed for 344 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Horned Frogs from a 14-point second-half deficit to a 38-36 victory.

The last time TCU began a season with a Friday night road game was in 2022, when it won 38-13 at Colorado en route to a College Football Playoff National Championship appearance
