GoFrogs: Horned Frogs Secure Third-Straight NCAA Tournament Bid

FORT WORTH – TCU men's basketball will make its 11th NCAA Tournament appearance when the No. 9 seed Horned Frogs meet No. 8 Utah State in the NCAA Tournament on Friday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind.

TCU is in the Big Dance for the third-straight season for the first time in program history. The Horned Frogs advanced to the second round of the 2022 and 2023 tournaments. Only 11 other teams have won a game in the past two tournaments and are in the 68-team field this season.

It is the sixth time TCU has been selected for the Midwest Regional and the second time the Frogs have been seeded ninth. As a nine seed, TCU defeated Seton Hall in the first round in 2022 before falling to top seed Arizona in overtime.

Jamie Dixon is in the tournament for the 15th time as a head coach and the fourth time at TCU. He is one of nine active head coaches who have made the NCAA Tournament 15 or more times.

Utah State (27-6) won the Mountain West Conference with a 14-4 record and is currently ranked No. 18 in the AP Top 25 Poll. MWC Coach of the Year Danny Sprinkle leads the Aggies who feature 13 newcomers, including Newcomer of the Year, Great Osobor who averaged 18.0 points and 9.2 rebounds this season.

Utah State leads the all-time series 2-0. The last meeting came on Dec. 29, 1982 in Logan, Utah and was an 84-59 win by the Aggies.

The winner of the game would play the winner of No. 1 Purdue and the First Four game winner of No. 16 Grambling and No. 16 Montana State on Sunday.
