FORT WORTH, Texas
- TCU forced 31 turnovers and led the entire way Saturday to move its winning-streak to six games with an easy 66-40 victory over Colorado State at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

The Horned Frogs controlled the game from the opening-tip, jumping out to an 18-3 advantage early in the game, while also holding the Rams scoreless for nearly 5 minutes of play. TCU, who held a 36-16 advantage in points off turnovers Saturday, was relentless on defense all day, forcing CSU into 31 turnovers, which is a seasonal-high for an opponent against the Frogs and the most since Utah had 32 last February.

As impressive as TCU's defense was, the Frogs also cleaned up the glass quite nicely, out-rebounding CSU, 39-26, which allowed TCU to collect a 17-3 advantage in second chance points. Overall, Colorado State, who shot only 31.8 percent from the field, including 18.2 percent from three-point land, never led in the contest, while the Purple and White's biggest lead was 28 points.

With the win, the Frogs moved to 12-6 overall and 4-0 in league play for the first time since the 2005-06 season. Colorado State dropped to 8-8 overall and 1-2 in the MWC. The Rams have now lost 11-straight to TCU and haven't defeated the Frogs since 1999.

Emily Carter led all scorers Saturday with 20 points on 6-12 shooting. She did most of her damage from behind the arc, shooting 6-of-9 from deep, which is 67 percent and tied for the ninth most three's made in a single-game in school history. Sophomore Starr Crawford was just as dangerous, scorching the Rams for 11 points, including eight in the second half. She also grabbed eight boards Saturday.

Colorado State, who had only one player score in double figures, was led by Meixandra Porter's 12 points. Chatil Van Grinsven was next with seven points on 2-of-6 shooting from the field.

The Frogs opened the second half, continuing their relentless defensive pressure, holding CSU without a basket for almost 4 minutes of play. During that span, DeLisa Gross recorded a block, while the Frogs also forced two turnovers.

Crawford got into the offensive act early in the second half, scoring eight of the Frogs' first 10 points of the period, including a tough lay-up in the paint to make the TCU advantage 43-27 with a little over 14 minutes remaining in the contest.

Some great ball movement a few moments later allowed senior Micah Garoutte to score on a jumper from the right side of the court and the Frogs moved their lead to 49-29.

At the 4:33 mark of the second half, sophomore DeLisa Gross' swooped into the lane to increase the Horned Frog lead back to 20 at 56-36 with a little over 4 minutes remaining in the game. On the play, TCU had an impressive three offensive rebounds, which resulted in the easy lay-up for Gross.

The two teams traded baskets down the stretch to bring the final score to 66-40.

Carter got the Frogs on the board quickly, draining a three from the left side of the court off a pass from Helena Sverrisdottir in the early minutes. TCU, who caused CSU to turn the ball over on six-consecutive trips to start the contest, jumped out to a 7-0 lead when Sverrisdottir scored on a lay-up following a steal by Crawford.

TCU increased its lead to 10-2 when Carter drained another three at the 15:32 mark of the first half. Following a three by freshman Briesha Wynn, Carter continued her hot shooting from deep, connecting on another trey with a little over 13 minutes to go in the half. The All-America candidate's triple was part of an 18-3 run for the Frogs to open the game.

With the Frogs ahead 27-7, senior Rachel Rentschler moved the Frogs lead to 22, scoring a turn-around jumper with a little over 6 minutes remaining in the half. The Frogs held Colorado State scoreless during that stretch for nearly 5 minutes of play.

Following an 8-0 run by the Rams, Carter halted the run, draining a three with 1 minute left in the period to make the score 35-19. A couple of free throws and a quick lay-up by Porter brought the score to 35-22 at the break in favor of TCU.

The Horned Frogs will return to the court next Wednesday against BYU. Start time is set for 8 p.m. CT.

It's good to see the ladies respond to the challenge Coach Mittie gave them. Tough OOC sked has made them a better team and you can see the results.

Way to go Lady Frogs.
