<blockquote data-quote="TopFrog" data-source="post: 3171276" data-attributes="member: 120"><p>(cont.)</p><p></p><p><strong>TAKING SILVER IN SCOTLAND</strong></p><p>Our student-athletes, current and past, enjoyed some great successes this summer, and Filippo Celli is right at the top.</p><p> </p><p>A rising junior, Filippo won the Silver Medal as the top amateur at the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews in Scotland, the world's oldest golf course. His 5-under 283 was six strokes better than the next amateur and gave him a tie for 47th overall.</p><p> </p><p>Filippo earned his spot at The Open by winning the European Amateur Championship. Tiger Woods (1996), Rory McIlroy (2007) and Matt Fitzpatrick (2013) can now say they are in good company as fellow Silver Medal winners with Filippo. </p><p></p><p><strong>MEN'S BASKETBALL BUZZ</strong></p><p>The momentum in our men's basketball program continues! Coming off our NCAA Tournament season, it has been great to see the national media recognize how we are trending under Head Coach <a href="https://gofrogs.com/staff.aspx?staff=334" target="_blank">Jamie Dixon</a>. In various preseason rankings, we are in the top 15 by CBS Sports (No. 10), ESPN (No. 13) and NCAA March Madness (No. 15).</p><p></p><p><strong>2022 HALL OF FAME CLASS ANNOUNCED</strong></p><p>When it comes to star power of TCU Athletics Hall of Fame classes, it is hard to top the eight Horned Frogs who comprise the 2022 edition. Jake Arrieta (baseball), Andy Dalton (football), Jason Flint (swimming and diving), Bryan Holaday (baseball), Jake Kirkpatrick (football) and Jackson Langat (track and field) are this year's selections, along with Lee Williams (track and field) as the Vintage Category honoree and Jack Hesselbrock as the Special Contributor recipient. Tickets for any of the Hall of Fame weekend activities are available <a href="https://advancement.tcu.edu/new/2022-blockt-hof?utm_source=Webpage&utm_medium=Webpage&utm_campaign=Hall+of+Fame+Weekend+2022" target="_blank">HERE</a>.</p><p> </p><p>This group defines what it means to be a Horned Frog. Jack was such a great resource to me and so many others while playing a major role in our successes. We look forward to celebrating this great class at our September 29 induction ceremony in the Legends Club & Suites. </p><p> </p><p><strong>TCU ATHLETICS DAY OF SERVICE</strong></p><p>It makes me proud each year to see the selflessness displayed by our coaches and staff with our annual TCU Athletics Day of Service. This year's event took place on May 11 with our department assisting in various ways with SafeHaven, Berry Good Buys, HOPE Farm, Starpoint School at TCU, Union Gospel Mission, the Tarrant Area Food Bank, Community Food Bank/Pantry and United Way. Thank you, team, for your efforts!</p><p> </p><p><strong>BEST IN THE NATION</strong></p><p>Congratulations to our marketing and video departments for their great collaboration on this past season's women's basketball intro video that won gold at the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) Convention. When our video department was formed a decade ago, Clayton was a one-person operation. He has produced so many of the terrific videos you have enjoyed over the years. We are certainly proud to have Clayton as a Horned Frog! </p><p></p><p><strong>PILLAR OF PURPLE</strong></p><p>Congratulations also go to Dominic DiNunzio (football), Madilyn Cole (volleyball) and Megan Morris (women's swimming and diving) on being this year's Pillar of Purple Award recipients! The award is presented by TCU's Intercollegiate Athletics Committee which is comprised of faculty, staff and students representing the university community. It honors at least one TCU student-athlete from men's sports and one from women's sports for their academic achievements, athletic excellence, community service and leadership. To be eligible, nominees must have junior or senior academic standing and have earned a varsity letter in their respective sport. </p><p> </p><p><strong>DID YOU KNOW?</strong></p><p>Our women's triathlon roster is now official. Head Coach <a href="https://gofrogs.com/staff.aspx?staff=661" target="_blank">Jenny Garrison</a> has signed 10 student-athletes who are set to arrive this fall and next spring to begin training in preparation of our women's triathlon debut season in Fall 2023.
