Cannon And Brock Tabbed Midseason All-Americans

No. 4 TCU hosts Air Force Saturday at 7 p.m. in a sold-out game at Amon G. Carter Stadium

FORT WORTH, Texas -- SI.com has tabbed TCU offensive tackle Marcus Cannon a first-team Midseason All-American, while linebacker Tanner Brock is a second-team pick.

Cannon is a 6-foot-6, 350-pound senior from Odessa, Texas. He's in his first season as a starter at left tackle after starting the previous two years at right tackle. Cannon has been ranked by ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr as the fifth-best offensive tackle available in the 2011 National Football League draft.

Cannon anchors an offensive line that paves the way for TCU to rank seventh in the nation in scoring (40.1 points per game), 10th in rushing (255.4 yards per game) and 15th in total offense (468.4 yards per game). The Horned Frogs have allowed just five sacks this season, tied for 11th nationally in fewest surrendered (0.7 per game).

Brock tops TCU with 51 tackles, 14 more than the next-closest Horned Frog (Colin Jones, 37). The sophomore from Copperas Cove, Texas, has 3 1/2 tackles for loss, including 1 1/2 sacks, to go with two fumble recoveries and two pass breakups.

Brock has reached double figures in tackles twice in the last three games, including a career-high 11 stops in last Saturday's 31-3 win over BYU.

The Horned Frogs are just the second team since 1996 to go through a three-game stretch and allow a combined total of three points or less.

TCU has not allowed a touchdown in its three October games. The stretch of 191:24 without a touchdown surrendered dates back to the fourth quarter of the Sept. 24 SMU game.

TCU leads the nation in scoring defense (9.3 points per game) and is second in total defense (218.3 yards per game) and pass defense (128.0 yards per game) while ranking ninth in run defense (90.3 yards per game).

Is this the same Brock that some were asking to be benched?
