FWST: TCU rally in ninth overtakes Air Force

Low-scoring, pitching-dominated affairs in which one clutch hit proved the difference have spelled disaster for TCU's baseball team through five weeks this season.
On Saturday, the Horned Frogs and Air Force each offered up both -- stellar pitching and a clutch hit. But for the first time in 2011, TCU was victorious in a one-run decision, 3-2.
TCU ace Matt Purke pitched eight innings -- his longest outing of the season -- but was on the hook for the loss after Jon McMahon led off the ninth with a home run to left that gave the Falcons a 2-1 edge, stunning most of the 4,195 fans at Lupton Stadium. ...
