FWST: Late runs help TCU even series with Lobos

TCU turned the tables on New Mexico on Saturday, flipping Friday's script by exploding for seven runs late, including five in the decisive eighth inning, to take Game 2 11-4.

Jason Coats' three-run homer to left sparked TCU's eighth-inning surge, giving the Horned Frogs (21-10, 6-2 Mountain West) some breathing room in front of 4,292 at Lupton Stadium.

"They were feeding me a lot of junk the first couple at bats," Coats said of the belt-high fastball. "It was one of the few good pitches I saw."

Steven Maxwell (4-0) faces Rudy Jaramillo (2-3) in Game 3 at 1 p.m. today. ...

I would think that Jason might expect a return to the off-speed diet real soon. And, it amuses me that a hitter describes a belt-high fastball as a "good pitch". I think that mound dwellers may have a different description. Everyone has their own perspective.
