FWST: Hot hitting carries Frogs past BYU

SAN DIEGO -- TCU shook off Wednesday's disappointing start to the Mountain West Conference tournament with a 12-5 elimination-game victory over BYU at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
The Horned Frogs (41-16) meet the loser of Thursday's late game between New Mexico and Utah at 5 p.m. today. If TCU wins, it plays the winner of Thursday's late game at 9 tonight.
Tenth-ranked TCU, the top seed in the tournament, responded to Wednesday's loss by scoring early and often against BYU pitching. The Frogs scored three runs in the first, one in the third and four in the fifth to take an 8-2 lead. Josh Elander hit a two-run homer to right field in the fifth ...
