Despite several factors playing against his team in what some perceive as a season in transition, TCU head coach Gary Patterson won't have any talk of rebuilding or waiting until 2012. An enormous amount of roster turnover, a stadium under construction and a conference with an axe to grind could derail the year for many programs. But Patterson is focused on one thing: getting back to the routine.

"Kids are going to think about ballgames if you make everything else like this," Patterson said at Tuesday's media luncheon, making a smoothing gesture with his hand. "It's just like at home. If they know what the rules are and they know how things go – when they're going to get up, go to school, when they're going to go home, when dinner's going to be – if they're in a routine, they're going to play better."

Patterson knows he has a high number of kids on his roster after coaching a group full of seasoned veterans last year. It's no coincidence that the only two teams to finish the 2010 season undefeated are also the two teams which lost more talent than any other schools in the nation. Auburn didn't just say goodbye to Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton at quarterback. The Tigers could have as many as 17 new starters when they take the field against Utah State on Saturday. ...
