DMN: Five CFP poll thoughts: Can TCU climb back into top 4? Baylor has work to do

Here are five quick thoughts from the Nov. 18 College Football Playoff poll:
1. Frogs fall out. In the short history of the College Football Playoff, the selection committee has been forgiving to teams after a weak performance, choosing to judge the full résumé instead of the most recent performance. Ole Miss debuted at No. 4 in the first poll, just days after losing to LSU. But this week, the committee sort of reversed course, dropping TCU from the top four after a less-than expected showing against Kansas, a game in which the Frogs needed a third-quarter punt return to retake the lead in a cold Lawrence. That might have just been a product of what happened in other games around the country, but TCU needs some teams to lose since the Frogs don’t have the flashiest schedule remaining. A Thanksgiving night game against a peaking Texas squad in Austin is looking much tougher than it did a month ago, but will that be enough to earn a spot? ...
