Daily Press: Humiliated Virginia returns to a little normalcy with TCU prep

CHARLOTTESVILLE — Only after you've given up 461 yards rushing to an opponent can you actually look forward to playing the next week against the nation's most efficient passer, which is exactly the scenario confronting Virginia's defense heading into Saturday's game at No. 17 Texas Christian.

From U.Va.'s perspective, a departure from anything resembling Georgia Tech's option offense is welcome, especially considering the Yellow Jackets put up more points against the Cavaliers in their 56-20 win than any Atlantic Coast Conference team since 1975 when Maryland beat U.Va. 62-24.

Before U.Va. (2-1 overall, 0-1 ACC) moved on to prepping for quarterback Casey Pachall and TCU's formation-rich offense, U.Va. captains Oday Aboushi, Steve Greer, Perry Jones, LaRoy Reynolds and Lafayette High graduate Will Hill delivered the post-mortem pep talk in the wake of the Georgia Tech disaster.

"They said, 'You can either do two things – run, or you can stand up and fight," said defensive end Ausar Walcott, who had three tackles against Georgia Tech while starting in place of the injured Bill Schautz. "I think that a lot of players want to stand up and fight." ...
