Kansas State is not the only prideful, purple-clad, reeling Big 12 program.

On the night of Sept. 15, the TCU Horned Frogs were 2-0, ranked 15th nationally and led Ohio State 21-13. But the Buckeyes won that game 40-28, and the Frogs have since lost four others in a five-game stand, including a 27-26 loss to Kansas. TCU is 3-5 overall, 1-4 in the Big 12, as it hosts Kansas State on Saturday.

The similarities are strong between K-State and TCU. Bill Snyder ranks first in major-college longevity; he’s in his 27th season coaching the Wildcats. Gary Patterson, in his 19thyear as the TCU head coach, ranks third on that list.

“Both Kansas State and TCU have been built the same, built with a lot of pride,” Patterson said. “Coach Snyder’s been there a long time. I’ve been here a long time. There’s a lot of tradition of how we want to play and how we want to do things."
