BOULDER - The University of Colorado is one of 64 teams selected to participate in the 2014 Postseason Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).

Colorado, 17-14 overall, will open WNIT play by hosting Texas Christian University on Wednesday, March 19, at 7 p.m. MDT at the Coors Events Center. The winner of Wednesday's game will face either Colorado State University or Southern Utah University in a second round matchup in the time frame of March 22-25.

TCU is 18-14 overall and finished seventh in Colorado’s former affiliation, the Big 12 Conference, at 8-10. The Horned Frogs earned the Big 12’s automatic bid into the tournament.

Colorado finished tied with Oregon for ninth in the Pac-12 Conference with a record of 6-12. The Buffaloes are one of four Pac-12 teams in the field joining the Ducks, Washington and Washington State.

"We are excited to be given the opportunity to keep playing," fourth-year CU head coach Linda Lappe said. "I really feel we are playing our best basketball at the end of the season. We are proud to represent the Pac-12 Conference and the University of Colorado as we head into the postseason for the fourth-straight season.”

Colorado advances to postseason play for the 22nd time in team history. This will be the Buffaloes’ fifth trip to the postseason WNIT. CU is 10-4 in WNIT play advancing to the quarterfinals in 2011 and 2012 and the semifinals in 2008.

The Buffaloes and Horned Frogs have some recent WNIT history. Colorado defeated TCU 96-90 in an overtime thriller in the quarterfinals of the 2008 event in Boulder.
