The Astros first pick on day two of the 2015 draft, right-handed pitcher Riley Ferrell, out of TCU, has been assigned to the Quad Cities River Bandits roster.
Ferrell made 31 appearances out of the pen for the Horned Frogs in 2014, compiling a 0.79 ERA in 45 1/3 innings with 70 strikeouts and 14 walks. This season Ferrell is 1-3 with a 2.83 ERA in 28 2/3 innings of relief, striking out 45 and walking 19.
Ferrell, a Texas native who grew up in College Station and went to A& M Consolidated High School was named to the 2014 1st team All-Big 12 Conference team and was a member of the 2013 USA Baseball Collegiate Team.
Prior to the draft Ferrell was ranked in the top 60 of draft prospects by Baseball America (59), and (45) by MLB.com.
