Alexandria Town Talk: Tech football bright despite Poinsettia loss

SAN DIEGO -- Louisiana Tech completed its best football season in 13 years on Wednesday night, and the Bulldogs are poised to achieve even greater heights in 2012.

Tech stood toe to toe with No. 16 TCU in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl on Wednesday before falling, 31-24. The Horned Frogs (11-2) scored 14 fourth-quarter points to rally for their third Poinsettia Bowl win in six seasons.

The Bulldogs, who finished the season 8-5 after having their seven-game winning streak snapped, led by seven in the second quarter and later scored 14 straight to take a 24-17 lead at the end of the third quarter before TCU's rally.

Tech coach Sonny Dykes said he was "a little disappointed" with how the Bulldogs played against TCU. Two Tech turnovers led to 14 points, including a key interception late in the first half in Tech territory that allowed the Horned Frogs to tie the game heading into halftime, and the Bulldogs also missed a key 43-yard field goal attempt. ...
