The Dallas area’s top specialists rarely live in the limelight, and that’s no different during college recruitment.

Many kickers, punters and long snappers only work their way onto college rosters as preferred walk-ons. Some never earn their scholarships.

That’s why the stories of Kyle Lemmermann and Jax Thompson, a pair of Dallas-area specialists heading to TCU next fall, are so unique. The two became among the nation’s best at their respective positions, and this signing day, are finally earning national attention.

The fact that one of them is a preferred walk-on undercuts the narrative a bit, but it also sounds like TCU and Coach Tommerdahl do well communicating the Frogs' commitment to special teams.

The coaching staff list now has Mark Tommerdahl as a Special Assistant to Sonny Dykes as part of the support staff. Appears he was the coach that had to move off-field to make room for the new linebackers coach, Ken Wilson.

As long as Jaden Oberkrom is doing well, I think we will have good pipeline of specialists from the metroplex. He has become a big name in that space.
