Bill Self doesn't have ESPN+, not sure it is good for Big 12, recruiting

agree with self that in terms of exposure it isn't a good thing compared to other conferences, but unfortunately there may not be much the b12 can do about it since disney/espn seems to control the world of college sports on television

Big 12 needs to figure out what they want to do. SEC is leaving CBS in 2023 with ESPN/ABC being the likely landing place. ESPN will slobber all over the SEC even more. I like the Big 12 and Fox but they also push the Big Ten hard.

part of the fox problem is their regional channels they use for distribution as opposed to the multiple espn channels

SEC has not made a decision to leave the CBS package. They are, wisely, looking into benefit of keeping it. Both side make great bank on it and early indications are they will look to keep it going. Big 10 and SEC are banking on their networks as well. Big 12 is so far behind the curve.

If SEC gets what it thinks it will on the new package, every school in that conference will get a huge jump in revenue. Obscene amounts.

They don't own those anymore... If we are on Fox going forward, it'll be on Fox, FS1, FS2.
Sinclair has those regionals now. They and Dish are in standoff that has been going since July. FOX SW is not even on Dish now.

Dish is hands down the worst at dropping coverage to "protect" their customers from overpricing, while continuing to raise prices. Now that Direct offers the same regionals, even from other parts of the country, lots of folks has switched.

ESPN+ is what we’ve got, at least for the duration of the current Big 12 GOR.

Conference alignment and tier 1/2 revenues are way more important than who the tier 3 partner is. We’ll see what happens on that front in 2-4 years.
