Was I supposed to type something here?
Nothing is guaranteed. So, while this team was considered to have potential (Oh, what a terrible curse...), they have not shown it consistently. We have had teams in the past that weren't considered to have potential yet they won, so, sometimes the opposite is true. That's baseball.

The Season isn't over. Still have a month to go. Many things can happen in that time.

If the pitching can get stable in the coming weeks, we can make things interesting before the Big 12 tournament. When you look back at the struggles, the hitting has not been bad, the pitching has been atrocious. If the pitching comes around, then we might be ok. Of course, in the "way baseball go", the moment pitching gets under control we will forget how to hit.

Haven’t seen much evidence of any kind of control so far.

Pitching has been real, real bad. To be fair, though, pitching is bad in the big 12 on the whole. I've watched the first place team and the last place team and other than the Friday night guys, its been a real crapshoot.

unfortunately, some of the posters who provided solid information on the game itself and the program don't post anymore

saarloos has struggled to find his footing, but there have been some positive signs from last year to this one

not sure how much is a byproduct of bruce coming on board or just luck

5 new position players came on board and silva and bowen have been top shelf as frosh, fontenelle has been a great addition, richardson a plus, and davis has been a bit of a disappointment.

feel free to nitpick and rationalize, but it has been awhile since the frogs have dropped 4 new position players in the lineup and they have the impact of those first 4 and mix davis in as well

there is the concern over the issues with nunez, boyer, and bishop. would love to know if they just aren't that good, a development issue , etc..

the pitching has been bad and as i have mentioned on a couple of game threads, the frogs haven't gotten much from the 8 junior pitchers on their roster be it injury, inconsistency, or regressing

wright and savage missed time with injury and are starting to get back to form as savage a bit.

ridings has continued his struggles from last year and not returned to his form of 2021

cam has continued to be the same inconsistent cam with draftable stuff.

the cal transfer has been soso and vanderhel has been bad

outside of klecker, a number of frosh have shown flashes, but struggled to find consistency

do think a number of them wouldn't be getting the innings they are if the upperclassmen were healthy and effective

finally, think baseball is a sport that does benefit from nil, but we have just started that sooooo....have we seen enough potential from the incoming class this year to think the program can have a positive future or are we merely treading water

Well, hiring a coach with no HC experience at the highest levels of the sport is indeed risky, and there were reasons TCU held a more exhaustive search at the time vs. just giving Saarloos the job. That being said, this team is just an odd mix and the pitching staff is too young/average to get the job done. KS was known as a great recruiter and great pitching coach, if he can get back to doing those two things at a high level we will be OK in the long run.

We are a game out of first behind Texas and now behind K-State, which had the benefit of playing Kansas this weekend and swept them. Still a lot of ball to played.

But pitchers not named Klecker are kind of a hot mess right now.
Remember the Frogs also swept Kansas and dropped two of three to last place OU.

think this team is a mix of some older talent that just isn't enough and youngsters who aren't ready

In regional who do you trust beyond Klecker to take the mound in a No. 2 vs. No. 3 game and hurl four or five solid.

I say beyond Klecker because I'd figure he'd be held back for a winners bracket game or an elimination game on day two.

Soooo, he should be able to then fix the pitching no? Like all I am frustrated but not giving up on this team yet, check back in about 3 weeks.
