Sorry if this has been posted before, but from a grounds crew perspective, what’s the deal with the carpet grass in certain areas of the infield? Was it the tough winter, lack of rain, hail when it did rain, all of the above?

@Strat Frog - Seems way early to have to re-sod some areas. But those areas can get chewed up with batting and fielding practice. They should use a net or something to protect the grass in front of the plate area that gets pounded during b.p. I suspect the area behind the mound got worn out by coaches and a catcher hitting fungoes to outfielders. All that combined with perhaps too much tarp use over warm nights could make it hard on the grass.
