Miami bows out of Sun Bowl

I know a team that was a late addition for the Sun Bowl and won a program-changing game.
Were we a late addition? I recall something about it being middle finger from UTEP and the WAC for BYU and Utah moving to the MWC, but were we actually invited abnormally late?

Ehh. Not really late but we weren’t the initial choice. Hyman lobbied to get us the invite. I thought it was Wyoming that was snubbed but could be misremembering that.

Bowl games have become so ridiculous.

Almost like a whole bunch of back to back to back NFL Pro Bowls. Nobody really wants to play them, nobody cares who wins. How exciting.

I love bowl games but they’ve lost 100% of significance last few years. I’d like them to get reinvented…. Now that we are paying players it seems like the bowl sponsors could offer $10k per player to the winning team or something

They’ll have to offer participation cash to really get players to want to play, and I don’t think that will improve the product.

I too think there needs to be some reinvention but I’m not sure there’s much that can be done tbh. The sport is almost ruined (and almost might be generous). Being taken over by street agents, lawyer agents, and just straight up lawyers.

Was I supposed to type something here?
The simple Logistics would be awful: Players have all either gone home or are elsewhere. Ditto Coaches. Ditto equipment managers. Everyone would have to get themselves together, get their jobs done with no lead time, see that tons of gear are moved and hundreds of people arrive in a timely manner. In short, all of the things which take two weeks to get together have to be done in six hours or so.

And of course we'll bring the wrong cleats.

It’s be like Best of Times where they have to get all the old out of shape players to come back to town. Not really, just wanted to reference a great 80’s flick.

Could be interesting. The winning team gets a bigger payout, right? What if each player gets a specific cut. High performing players get a bonus. You could even have position bonuses, like if the QB gets sacked less than twice the O-line splits some cash.
