USA Today: Perfect storm brewing as TCU, Boise State seek BCS title game

There might be but one way to bring peace to college football this season.
It starts with Boise State beating Louisiana Tech at home Tuesday, then sweeping through five remaining scheduled games. The Broncos would be 12-0. They'd gather the night of Dec. 5 with cheerleaders, a band and thousands of expectant students and fans and get word that they've cracked the top two in the Bowl Championship Series' final rankings. Bingo! They'd play for a national title a month later in Glendale, Ariz.
They can do it, of course. Win 'em all. But about that last part …
Pause and take in the storm gathering around the prospect that perfection might not be enough for Boise State to make title game. The BCS' initial rankings were released this week. Tenuous as they are in a season that stretches seven more weeks, they have made it clear: At No. 3 behind better-pedigreed Oklahoma and Oregon, with a schedule that sags while the others' pick up, the Broncos are playing a game of catch-up that might be impossible to win.
The same for Texas Christian, unbeaten in seven games and No. 5 in the BCS standings. ...
