FORT WORTH – The American League champion Texas Rangers and TCU Athletics have partnered to host “TCU Frogs for the Cure Night at The Ballpark” to continue TCU’s commitment to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

TCU students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends can take advantage of a discount ticket price in two special TCU sections to cheer on the Rangers and benefit Komen for the Cure. Online ticket purchases will provide the best available seating in those areas. Super Frog will be on hand as well as TCU cheerleaders to hand out TCU Frogs for the Cure items.

For the Rangers’ Friday, Aug. 26 meeting with the Los Angeles Angels, fans can buy $8 tickets (regular $15) in the upper deck TCU section and $27 tickets (regular $43) in the corner box field section. With an $8 ticket purchase, the Rangers will donate $2 to Komen, while a $27 ticket will result in an $8 donation.

TCU fans are encouraged to buy and wear the 2011 “We Fight Back” Frogs for the Cure t-shirt with $3 of each purchase returning to Komen as a donation. Shirts are available for purchase at the TCU bookstore or online at www.tcu.bkstore.com.

American Idol finalist and TCU graduate Tim Halperin will perform the national anthem, while Captain Bret Westbrook, a TCU business school grad in 2007, and his mother Mary Westbrook, a five-year breast cancer survivor from Athens, Texas, will toss out the first pitch. TCU baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle will be on hand to catch the first pitch.

Now in its seventh year, TCU’s Frogs for the Cure partnership with Komen for the Cure helps fund the fight to end breast cancer. This season’s Frogs for the Cure football game is set for Oct. 28, when TCU hosts BYU at Cowboys Stadium for a 7 p.m., matchup. Since its inception, Frogs for the Cure has raised more than $125,000 for breast cancer research. For more information on Frogs for the Cure, visit www.frogsforthecure.tcu.edu.
