HAPPY HOLIDAYS
Greetings from San Diego! On behalf of TCU Athletics, I’d like to wish all of you and your families a Happy Holiday season! We very much appreciate all of your support. Thank you for creating the momentum that defines our program and allowing me the opportunity to serve you.
GAME TONIGHT
It’s been great to see all the purple around San Diego. We even had a nice contingent in Los Angeles for our men’s basketball game Monday night at USC. We’re actually in a pretty good hotbed of recruiting for our university as a whole. Did you know that California is our second-most popular state, behind Texas of course, in producing applications and students at TCU? If you’re not with us at Snapdragon (Qualcomm) Stadium tonight, make sure to catch the game on ESPN at 7 p.m. CST.
DONNING THE CAP AND GOWN
We’re celebrating 49 of our student-athletes receiving their degree this semester. Because of travel to San Diego for the Poinsettia Bowl, 10 of our football student-athletes had their commencement in our team hotel last night. It was a terrific ceremony with families present and Chancellor Boschini presiding. Congratulations to offensive lineman Spencer Thompson on earning his master’s degree! He'll be one of just four football student-athletes to play in a bowl game this season with a master's degree already in hand.
A TRUE HORNED FROG
At yesterday's Poinsettia Bowl luncheon on the USS Midway, it was very touching to see associate athletics director Jack Hesselbrock recognized by our football program with its Make-A-Wish Most Inspirational Award through the bowl. Many of you know Jack and his family, who have meant a lot to the TCU community. It was a great reward for a great person.
PURPLE DAY
Special thanks to our good friend and Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price for declaring Wednesday "Purple Day" in honor of TCU's trip to the Poinsettia Bowl.
WRECKING BALL
If you haven’t seen the video and photos of the wrecking ball hitting the east side of Amon G. Carter Stadium on Monday, please check out the following LINK. Since our last home game on Dec. 3, we’ve made great progress on having your new $164 million home ready by the time our Big 12 debut season rolls around next fall.
MORE FROM THE HARD HATS
Work began Monday in the Walsh Complex. The remodeling will consist of a new football locker room, sports medicine center and equipment room. Everything will be completed by this fall.
NEW FACES
Please join me in welcoming Eric Bell and Ryan Higginbotham to the TCU family. Eric is our new women’s soccer head coach, while Ryan will be his top assistant. Eric comes to us after serving as associate head coach with the highly successful Florida State women’s program. He was also the Seminoles’ recruiting coordinator. His 2008 class was ranked tops in the nation, while his recruiting efforts in 2007 were rated second nationally. Ryan was with the prominent Dallas Texans club team and was the National Youth Girls Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

With the fall semester completed and our student body gone from campus, please try to make it out to Daniel-Meyer Coliseum tomorrow night at 7 as our men’s basketball team hosts Grambling State. We also have a New Year’s Eve doubleheader on Saturday, Dec. 31, in the DMC with our women facing Texas Southern at 2 p.m. and the men taking on Tulsa at 6 p.m.
A LATE GIVING PUSH
With the calendar year winding down, don’t forget to make a late gift or perhaps increase your already submitted gift to the Frog Club. Our Frog Club office will remain open through Friday at noon before closing for the Holiday season. You can always make a donation online through the Frog Club’s website at www.tcufrogclub.com.

If a student-athlete's name or picture appears on commercial items (e.g., t-shirts, sweatshirts, playing cards, posters, photographs) or is used to promote a commercial product sold by an individual or agency without the student-athlete's knowledge or permission, the student-athlete (or the institution acting on behalf of the student-athlete) is required to take steps to stop such an activity in order to retain his or her eligibility for intercollegiate athletics. A student-athlete will lose his/her eligibility for participation in intercollegiate athletics if the individual: (a.) Permits the use of his or her name or picture to advertise, recommend or promote directly the sale or use of a commercial product or service of any kind regardless of whether any compensation was received; or (b.) Receives remuneration for endorsing a commercial product or service through the individual's use of such product or service.
