GoFrogs: No. 4 TCU Downs First Top 10 Opponent of the Season

HOUSTON – No. 4 TCU beach volleyball came out of the Third Coast College Classic untouched. The Horned Frogs downed No. 6 LSU, 3-2, for their second ranked win of the season – their first against a top 10 opponent. Additionally, TCU garnered their second sweep of the season over HCU.

Three Horned Frogs delivered perfect 4-0 weekends: Hailey Hamlett, Anhelina Khmil and Morgan Williams.

"Going back to Fort Worth with four wins, and two of them versus ranked teams, is always positive," Head Coach Hector Gutierrez said. "It gives us that confidence that the team is ready to battle."

QUICK HITS AGAINST NO. 6 LSU:
  • Emma Glagau and Ana Vergara locked in the first point for TCU in a straight-set victory at the No. 4 spot: 21-18, 21-19.
  • This was the pairings' second victory together, now standing at 2-0 this season.
  • Vergara's win over the Tigers locked in her 34th ranked win, Glagau her second.
  • Keagan Polk and Morgan Williams notched the second point for the Horned Frogs from the No. 5 position: 16-21, 21-18, 15-12.
  • The win over LSU marks the duo's third win as a pairing.
  • Polk collected her third ranked win while Williams earned her second.
  • The duo of Hailey Hamlett and Anhelina Khmil clinched the match for TCU in a straight-set victory from the No. 1 spot: 21-15, 21-18.
  • Hamlett notched her 27th ranked win, while Khmil earned her 16th.
  • Sutton MacTavish and Tara Patton fell to LSU's Larkin/Shank in the No. 3 spot: 21-16, 21-17.
  • Alex Parkhurst and Anete Namike fell to LSU's Allred/Bracken from the No. 2 spot: 21-17, 21-19.
  • The Horned Frogs improve their all-time record against the Tigers to 7-9.
  • TCU begins their season 2-0 against ranked opponents.

  • Ana Vergara and Morgan Williams scored the first point for TCU from the No. 4 spot: 21-17, 21-11.
  • This was the pairings' first showing and victory together.
  • Vergara started the season 3-0, while Williams finished 4-0 on her first weekend as a Horned Frog.
  • Hallie Corinne Frist and Josie Sek posted the second point for the Horned Frogs from the No. 5 position: 20-22, 22-20, 15-8.
  • Sek now boasts seven wins all time for TCU, while Frist now owns eight.
  • The win over the Huskies is the duo's second together.
  • Hailey Hamlett and Anhelina Khmil went 4-for-4 on the weekend for clinched points, securing the match for the Frogs from the No. 1 spot: 21-11, 21-16.
  • This is the duo's fourth win of the season together.
  • Sutton MacTavish and Alex Parkhurst took the fourth point for the Frogs at the No. 3 spot: 21-12, 21-14.
  • This is the duo's first showing and victory together outside of TCU's Purple and White scrimmage.
  • The win marks Parkhurst's second win as a Horned Frog, MacTavish her 40th.
  • Anete Namike and Tara Patton closed out the weekend earning TCU its second sweep of the season. The duo won the point from the No. 2 spot: 21-19, 17-21, 15-5.
  • This is the duo's first showing and victory together.
  • Beating HCU's No. 2's marked Namike's second victory and Patton's seventh.
  • TCU held its unbeaten history over HCU, notching its 13th win over the Huskies.
  • The Horned Frogs' sweep is their eighth all time against HCU.

No. 4 TCU heads to Stanford, Cali. for the Battle at the Bay hosted by No. 7 Stanford. They will begin play Friday March 1 against the Cardinal at 4:00 p.m.
