Five Frogs Named To NFF Hampshire Honor Society

Dalton and Jones are recent NFL draft picks

DALLAS -- Five former TCU football players have been named to the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame's Hampshire Honor Society. Receiving membership are wide receiver Curtis Clay, quarterback Andy Dalton, wide receiver Bart Johnson, safety Colin Jones and kickoff specialist Kevin Sharples.

Membership is granted to football student-athletes who are starters or significant reserves in their last year of eligibility and maintain a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout their entire course of undergraduate study.

Dalton and Jones are recent National Football League draft picks of the Cincinnati Bengals and San Francisco 49ers, respectively.

Dalton holds every major TCU passing record and is the Horned Frogs' all-time leader in wins (42) by a starting quarterback. Jones placed second on last year's nation-leading defense with 80 tackles, including a career-best 10 stops in the 21-19 Rose Bowl win over Wisconsin.

Johnson, an Academic All-American, was fourth on TCU last season with 31 receptions. He had a 23-yard touchdown catch in the Rose Bowl while also recovering an onside kick in the final minutes to preserve the victory.

Clay and Sharples played the 2010 campaign as graduate students. Clay had five receptions and finished with 34 catches in his TCU career. Sharples was key in field position for TCU with a career-best 14 touchbacks last season.
